Nigerian music icon 2Baba (Innocent Idibia) is once again at the center of online controversy as an old “arrest” rumour makes a dramatic comeback on social media.
A resurfaced video clip allegedly showing the Afrobeats legend being escorted by police at London’s Gatwick Airport has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, reigniting claims that he was arrested during a past UK tour following an alleged domestic dispute with his wife, Natasha Osawaru.
The clip, originally shared by a popular blogger, has left Nigerians divided. While some insist the footage is proof of an arrest, others argue it was taken out of context, suggesting the singer may have simply been receiving routine assistance or security escort.
This isn’t the first time the rumour has surfaced. When similar claims emerged in the past, 2Baba firmly denied being arrested, explaining that he had missed a UK performance due to a medical emergency, not police detention.
