EPL; Romelu Lukaku marks Chelsea return debut in grand style

Romelu Lukaku made a statement on his return to Chelsea nearly a decade after his first debut. He got his name on the score sheet, as Thomas Tuchel’s men inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in Sunday’s London Derby.

Lukaku, who was at Chelsea as a teenager, started at the Emirates after his £97.5m signing from Inter Milan and immediately impacted when he opened the scoring for the visitors fifteen minutes into the game.

Reece James made it two for the Blues in the 35th minute to make it two wins from two in the league for the reigning Champions League title holders, while Arsenal succumbed to their second successive defeat of the season for the third time in their history.

SOUTHAMPTON 1 – 1 MANCHESTER UNITED

Meanwhile, Manchester United failed to build on their impressive opening day 5-1 demolition of Leeds United. Southampton bounced back from an opening day defeat to Everton to earn a well-deserved draw at St Mary’s.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side started brightly, but The Saints took the lead when Che Adams found the back of the net before the break.

After the break, Mason Greenwood squeezed in a shot to bring United back on levelled terms in what turned to be a rather disappointing outing for United. De Gea’s crucial save later on in the game prevented the hosts from having all three points.
