Leicester bounced back from a disappointing end to last season to get their new campaign off to a winning start as Jamie Vardy scored two penalties to begin his Golden boot defence in a 3-0 win at West Brom.
After going goal less in the first half, Belgian international Timothy Castagne opened the scoring 11 minutes into the second half on his debut as West Brom were given a harsh lesson on the step up in quality they face on their return to the Premier League.

Despite Leicester’s drop-off in the second half of the campaign, Vardy still won the Premier League’s golden boot last season and the 33-year-old launched his challenge to be top scorer once more with two expertly taken spot-kicks in the final 16 minutes after he and James Justin had been felled inside the area.
Jamie Vardy made it two from the spot in the 74th minute.

In the other game of the night, José Mourinho suffered his first opening day defeat as Everton signalled their intent for Carlo Ancelotti’s first full season in charge as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s towering header to get their first win over Tottenham since 2012 in a 1-0 victory on Sunday.

Spurs who are hoping for an upturn in Jose Mourinho’s first full season as boss, looked short on ideas as they slipped to a damaging home defeat for their aspirations of mounting a challenge to get back into the top four this season.
After enduring a goal less first half, the opener and only goal of the night arrived 10 minutes after the break as Calvert-Lewin rose highest to power Lucas Digne’s free-kick into the top corner.
