Brendan Potter’s men had put up a strong resilience to keep City out during the first half.
However, four minutes after the break, de Bruyne sent home a jaw dropping free kick to break the deadlock, the lone goal was enough to hand the defending Champions a deserved victory.
Arsenal who are now second, can move back to the summit if they defeat Nottingham Forest tomorrow.
