From Son Heung-min’s opener and own goal to the referee’s controversial stoppage time whistle, the game between Man City and Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad, which ended 3-3 was an absolute thriller.
Three minutes after putting Spurs ahead, Son scored an own goal, setting the game off on an entertaining start, before Foden put the hosts in front in the 31st minute.
After the break, Giovani Lo Celso, levelled things, then Jack Grealish, scored what City thought would be the winner in the 81st minute, but Tottenham weren’t done as Dejan Kulusevski, headed home an equalizer in the 90th minute.
City looked set to grab a winner during added time before referee Simon Hooper blew for a foul on Erling Haaland, who had already recovered from the effects of Emerson Royal’s tackle and chipped a pass to Grealish, who seemed to be clear on goal, but for the final whistle, much to the dismay of City players and their coach, Pep Guardiola as well.
The result leaves City in third place, three points behind leaders, Arsenal and one behind second-placed Liverpool, who played out a riveting 4-3 showpiece against Fulham.
