The final voter list for the offset Edo and Ondo governorship elections has been made available by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), an official announced.
The information was revealed in a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday by Mr. Sam Olumekun, the state’s chairman of the information and voter education committee and national commissioner.
According to the statement, Edo has 2,629,025 and Ondo has 2,053,061. Olumekun said that during the commission meeting in Abuja, the final registers were authorised. He continued by saying that the register included the numbers of individuals who were successful in applying to transfer from one state to another as well as new voters from the most recent Continuous Voter Registration.
He claimed that out of the 2,629,025 registered voters in Edo, 1,370,061, or 52.11%, were men and 1,258,964, or 47.19%, were women. He added that the youth (18 years to 35 years) accounted for 983,133 (37.4 per cent), followed by 914,806 middle aged (36 to 49) persons.
He clarified that the combined number of voters in the two age categories is 1,897,939, that is, 72.2% of all registered voters. Additionally, according to Olumekun, the occupational distribution of the registered voters revealed that 868,764 students (33.15%) made up the bulk of voters, while 4,199 people (0.16%) were classified as Persons with Disability (PWD).
Speaking on Ondo, Olumekun said that the state now has 2,053,061 registered voters, of whom 1,034,006 (50.36 per cent) are male while 1,034,964 (47.89 per cent ) are female.
“Youths (18–35 years) account for 726,944 (35.41 per cent), followed by 721,982 (35.17 per cent) middle-aged (36–49) persons.
“Together, they constitute 1,448,926 (70.57 per cent) of registered voters in the state.
“In terms of occupation, 694,938 students constitute the majority of voters (33.85 per cent),” he stated.
He explained that there are 1,782 (0.09 per cent) PWDs. “The new register represents a 3.0 per cent increase over the 2023 General Elections figure of 1,191,344,” Olumekun stated.

He continued by saying that the INEC website and social media platforms now have the whole breakdown of the register for every state broken down by Local Government Areas, gender, age, occupation, and handicap for the benefit of the general public. Olumekun added that INEC would announce the schedule for the two states’ Permanent Voter Card collections in the coming days.
