Veteran actor Patrick Doyle stutters as he speaks about his divorce from his estranged wife, Ireti Doyle.
In a recent interview on QEDNG, the famous actor battled with words as he responded to questions regarding his previous marriage to Ireti. Speaking with Olumide Iyanda, Doyle shared his thoughts on the dissolution of their marriage, emphasizing that he harbours no resentment towards Ireti.
Doyle addressed a previous social media post where he praised his mother, sisters, and late wife, clarifying that it was not intended as a shade towards Ireti. He questioned why people expected him to nostalgically recall their time together when it was, in fact an unpleasant memory.
He wrote:
“Has she told you, she was happiest with me? If I am not true to myself, then I am an agbaya. My mother, my sisters, and my late wife that isn’t a shade to anybody; they impacted me in a positive way.
When something didn’t make me happy, why should I remember that fondly? The outcome of our marriage wasn’t pleasant. So why should I lie?
We are very cordial now. Ireti is a first-class provider and a mother to her children. She is taking fantastic care of my daughter. How can I wish her ill? As far as mothers go, they don’t come any better. She provides 360 mothering care.”

Patrick, who was previously married to ace actress Ireti Doyle, tied the knot traditionally with his new wife, Funmilayo in 2023.
Also recall that Patrick in a Facebook post to commemorate Mothering Sunday, mentioned four women who have played maternal roles in his life, leaving out his former wife and actress Ireti Doyle. According to him, he has never been happier as his wife has been his new mother, friend and partner.
“On Mother’s Day We Are Expected To Pay Tribute To Our Mothers And All Women Who Have Played Maternal Roles In Our Lives. In My Case, The 4 Women Who Had Acted In That Capacity Towards Me Are My Late Mother Angela Bassey Doyle, My Late Elder Sisters Victoria Doyle, And Ayodeji Alakija As Well As My Late Wife Rosamond Doyle.
“Today To The Glory Of God This Young Lady Has Taken Over That Role &Truth Be Told, I Have Never Been Happier In All My Life. Please Join Me In Thanking God For My New Mother, Friend & Partner For Life Oluwafunmilayo”, he wrote.
