Adele announces indefinite break from music

Adele has announced a hiatus from music; ‘I will not see you for an incredibly long time’, she clearly stated.

Adele has just finished her run of Munich shows, which took place in a bespoke-designed portable arena in the German city.

But after finishing her last gig in the incredible venue, Adele admitted that she won’t be seeing fans again any time soon. Speaking on stage to her audience, the record-breaking artist revealed:

“I have 10 shows to do, but after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you dear in my heart.”

The 36-year-old, who recently got engaged to Rich Paul, is contracted to return to Las Vegas to complete her part-canceled Caesars Palace residency, but after that, she’s got no plans to continue in the music industry.

In an interview with German public service broadcaster ZDF in July, she said: “I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things. Just for a little while.”

Adele has been performing her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum Theater at Caesars Palace since November 2022.

She initially announced this residency in 2021, only to stun and disappoint fans months later by postponing the tour entirely. In an emotional video, the “Rolling in the Deep” singer told fans that the caliber of her show was not up to par and that she and her crew wouldn’t be ready to begin on time.

Once the shows began, Adele extended her dates into 2023 and again through most of 2024. Her last shows are set to run from Oct. 25 through November 23 this year.

The Grammy-winner said on Saturday during her concert in Munich that once she concludes her Las Vegas residency in November, she’s planning to take a lengthy “break,” according to video footage from the show.

“I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it,” Adele said, her voice trembling. “I want to live the new life that I have been building.”

Adele has had an eventful few years personally and professionally.

Her most recent album was released in 2021, six years after releasing her hit 2015 album “25.” Her first and second albums came out in 2008 and 2011, respectively. She had previously stepped away from performing in 2011 to undergo throat-related surgery. She also took time off after she gave birth to her son in 2012.
