Man Utd mark return form break with vital victory

Manchester United picked up a vital win in their first game after the international break courtesy of goals from new signing, Matthijs de Ligt, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho against ten-man Southampton.

Erik Ten Hags’s side went into the international break with the weight of a 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on them and expectations were that they would make things right in today’s game.

Off to a slow and difficult start, the turning point came when Andre Onana saved Cameron Archer’s penalty, as United soon took control of the game going 2-0 up by halftime.

After the break, The Red Devils failed to take their chances, as the already bad day became worse for the host with Jack Stephens getting a straight red for a foul on substitute, Gernacho.

The numerical advantage paid off for the visitors as the Argentine rounded off the win with the third goal just at the nick of stoppage time.

Ten Hag will be looking to build on this result moving forward.
