ManMan City, Chelsea bag win as Liverpool suffer defeat City, Chelsea bag win as Liverpool suffer defeat

Pep Guardiola Manchester City simply picked up from where they stopped before the international break with a 2-1 victory over Brentford, thanks to Erling Haaland’s first-half brace.

Brentford looked poised to cause an upset when Yoane Wissa opened the scoring, barely a minute into the game.

However, they failed to defend the lead as Haaland pulled an equalizer in the 19th minute before going on to bag the eventual winner in the 32nd minute, maintaining City’s perfect start to the season.

In other games of the day, Chelsea snatched a late winner through, substitute Christopher Nkunku’s 86th-minute goals away at Bournemouth.

Liverpool succumbed to defeat as Callum Hudson-Odoi’s 72nd-minute curler saw  Nottingham Forest record their first win at Anfield in any competition since 1969 and brought an end to Liverpool’s impeccable start to the season.
