Real Madrid survive late Deportivo scare

Real Madrid escaped an embarrassing end to their game against Deportivo Alaves as they managed to grab all three points after the visitors threatened a comeback.

Madrid had gone two goals up at halftime thanks to Lucas Vazquez very early opener and Kylian Mbappe’s second.

Roughly three minutes after the break, Rodrygo made it three for the defending La Liga champions.

Madrid were in charge and thought nothing could be wrong, then Carlos Benavidez pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 85th minute. Even at 3-1, it seemed safe but Kike Garcia made it two for Deportivo, rattling Madrid.

Ancelotti’s men were given minutes away from getting slapped in their faces, so they held on fiercely to their lead as they hoped for the final whistle to echo and when it did, they stepped out of the pitch feeling relieved, extending their unbeaten run to 38 games.
