Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United showed grit and tenacity as they knocked out Arsenal from the FA Cup on penalties despite being a man down.
After a goalless first half, Bruno Fernandes gave United the lead in the 52nd minutes and shortly after, Diogo Dalot got shown a second yellow card and sent off for a tackle on Mikel Merino.
Arsenal immediately capitalized on the numerical advantage with Gabriel levelling things up two minutes after Dalot got sent off.
However, that was the most Mikel Arteta’s men could do as Altay Bayindir saved Arsenal skipper, Martin Odegaard’s penalty and Arsenal players failed to take all their other chances.
With both teams failing to break the deadlock, the game went into penalties and Joshua Zirkzee made no mistakes from the spot for United’s last take, sending them through to the next round of the competition where they’ll take on Leicester City.
