AC Milan crash out of Champions League

Seven-time European champions AC Milan are out of the Champions League after failing to secure a win against Feyenoord in the second leg of their knockout play-off at their home turf, the San Siro Stadium.

Off the back of a 1-0 defeat in the first leg, Italian side he gone into the game high on expectations and with the home crowd behind them. 

Looking promising, Santiago Gimenez, put the host in front barely a minute into the game, a lead they maintained till the break. 


After the break, in the 51st minute, Theo Hernandez got a second yellow and was shown the exit handing the visitors a numerical advantage. 

Safe to say the Dutch made the most of and a leveller in the 73rd minute, courtesy of Julian Carranza header, bringing the aggregate score to 2-1.

Late on in the game, Givairo Read got sent off for Feyenoord keeping things even on the number of players, but the damage had already been done with Milan bowing out and Feyenoord booking a last 16 spot in the UCL for the first time since 1974.
