Renowned Nigerian fashion designer and influencer, Veekee James, has revealed why she chooses to share her marriage openly on social media.
Veekee, known for frequently posting moments with her spouse, has sparked discussions among netizens, with some questioning whether she overshares. Despite the debates, she remains steadfast in her belief that privacy is not the key to a successful marriage.
Speaking on the Creativitea Live with Linda podcast, she defended her decision, stating that secrecy does not guarantee a lasting relationship. She noted that she has seen private marriages crumble just as quickly as public ones. According to her, the content shared online represents only a small portion of their real lives.
She defended her decision to flaunt her marriage and husband Femi Atere saying,
“At first, when we started getting backlash on social media, people kept telling me to keep my husband off the internet because he is a quiet man. Some even said that private marriages last longer. However, I’ve seen marriages that were kept off social media and didn’t even last a month. I’ve seen things people hid that didn’t last.”
