Popular on-air personality Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, widely known as Nedu Wazobia, has strongly denied allegations of fraud and financial mismanagement leveled against him by social activist Martins Vincent Otse, also known as Very Dark Man (VDM).
Through his management agency, Tokindrumz, Nedu refuted claims that he mishandled funds meant for an educational initiative. The controversy began when VDM shared a video detailing how a United Kingdom-based man approached Nedu regarding a scholarship charity. According to VDM, Nedu agreed to collaborate with the NGO and serve as the face of the program to help Nigerian youths access scholarships.
However, tensions arose when Nedu was allegedly asked to account for N85 million allocated for a gala event in Nigeria. VDM stated that the NGO, which accused Nedu of misappropriating the funds, contacted him directly. He also shared a video of a foreign woman giving a press briefing, urging Nedu to provide receipts detailing how the funds were utilized. Additionally, VDM revealed that a formal petition had been filed against Nedu.
At a press conference held in Lagos, Nedu reaffirmed his dedication to philanthropy, education, and social impact while announcing legal action against those spreading false claims to tarnish his reputation. Speaking through Tokindrumz, he emphasized that all funds related to the NDSCHF initiative were managed by a globally recognized social enterprise, ensuring full financial accountability. At no point, he asserted, did he personally handle or control any donations.
He stated that comprehensive financial documents, vendor agreements, and communications have been submitted to the relevant authorities and are available for review. Nedu highlighted that the NDSCHF initiative aims to provide full scholarships to 1,000 underprivileged Nigerian students over two years, with each student receiving £10,000 to ensure access to quality education. He further explained that the initiative collaborates with an esteemed international social enterprise to maintain strict financial oversight.
Regarding fundraising efforts, Nedu disclosed that three events were held in Lagos, Abuja, and London in January 2024, resulting in ₦19 million in pledges and ₦4.1 million in direct donations. These events were supported by notable celebrities, including Timaya and Casey. He clarified that all payments to vendors, including event organizers, PR teams, and logistics providers, were managed directly by Tokindrumz Management, and at no point were funds deposited into his personal accounts.
Beyond education, Nedu reiterated his broader philanthropic efforts, which extend to supporting families, women, and social causes, including advocacy for rape victims, providing emotional and legal support, and running public awareness campaigns. Addressing the allegations further, he expressed his frustration over repeated attacks on his character, declaring that he would no longer tolerate baseless accusations. He stated that the “nice Nedu” is dead and buried, adding that legal proceedings have already begun against those spreading misleading claims about NDSCHF and his personal integrity.
He reaffirmed his mission to uplift and empower Nigerians through education, advocacy, and tangible action, stating that while he will no longer tolerate baseless allegations, his dedication to the cause remains unshaken and that the facts will speak for themselves.
Tokindrumz Management Agency’s Chief Operating Officer, Sarah Williams Konha, reaffirmed Nedu’s commitment to defending his credibility while continuing his philanthropic mission. She emphasized that Nedu’s social media platforms are strictly supervised by his management team to prevent misinformation, unauthorized posts, or fraudulent activities. She also assured that official updates on the NDSCHF initiative, including donation records and impact reports, will continue to be shared through verified channels. Legal proceedings are already underway against those responsible for spreading false allegations, reinforcing the transparency and accountability at the core of Nedu’s charitable endeavors.
