Naira Marley reacts after court cleared him of Mohbad’s death

Nigerian singer Naira Marley has finally broken his silence, hours after a Magistrate court cleared him and others from Mohbad’s death.

Recall that a Magistrate court sitting in Yaba, Lagos, had cleared Naira Marley, his aide Sam Larry, and Prime Boy from the death of Mohbad.

The Magistrate, Ejiro Kubenje, in delivering the ruling, cited the legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) in Lagos, which stated that the trio had no case to answer in connection with Mohbad’s demise. She said the court agreed that an unlawful assault was carried out by Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Opere and Primeboy on Mohbad but the assault could not rise to the point of criminal responsibility in view of the deceased.

However, the DPP confirmed that the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad before his death, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, and one of the late singer’s friends, Ayobami Sadiq, would face prosecution for reckless and negligent acts.

The DPP found that Ogedengbe administered injections and other medications to Mohbad without conducting a medical assessment or reviewing his medical history, worsening Mohbad’s condition by September 11 and 12, 2023, as his arm became increasingly swollen, causing severe pain.

Taking to X after the news, Naira Marley shared a verse from the Holy Quran, “And whoever puts all his trust in Allah, he will be enough for him. (65:3).”

“And ‘remember, o Prophet, when the disbelievers conspired to capture, kill, or exile you. They planned, but Allah also planned. And Allah is the best of planners,” he added on his Instagram story.

He also reposted a fan’s post, which focused on his trials and tribulations, emphasising that the truth would always come out.

“Could any of us carry the weight Naira bore? The world turned its back, his name dragged through the mud, yet he walked into the storm-head high, heart steady-returning home to face the justice system alone. No safety net, no outstretched hands, only the echo of judgment.

Naira Marley faced severe backlash over the years after being linked to Mohbad’s untimely and mysterious demise in 2023 and was cancelled by most social media users. He also lost over 50,000 followers after the singer died.
