On-air personality, broadcast journalist, comedian, and content creator, Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, known as Nedu Wazobia, has served social media critic Martins Otse, aka Very Dark Man, with notice of a N500 million lawsuit over alleged defamation.
Nedu and VDM have been at loggerheads which stemmed from when reality star DeeOne claimed on Nedu’s Honest Bunch podcast that Very Dark Man had sexual intercourse with males.
Very Dark Man reacted to the claims made by DeeOne by accusing Nedu Wazobia of plotting the accusations and disclosing their private exchanges in public domain.
Since then, there’s been series of accusations and exposé, ranking from the list of females Nedu has allegedly slept with, down to the most recent accusation leveled against Nedu by VDM alleging association with drug peddlers and fraudsters
Among the allegations, Verydarkman also shared a 12-minute video on his YouTube page titled “How Nedu Diverted NGO Scholarship Meant for Nigerians.”.
Nedu Wazobia has now replied to Very Dark Man in a lawsuit filed by his lawyers dated February 24.
The legal representatives of Nedu and Tokindrumz Picture and Media Ltd have disclosed that the video released by Verydarkman contains numerous defamatory, false, and disparaging claims directed at their clients.
The lawyers clarified that Nedu is not the owner of Tokindrumz but rather a talent associated with the brand.
They have requested that VeryDarkMan remove all videos featuring Nedu from his platforms within 24 hours of receiving the notice, issue a public apology, and compensate Nedu with ₦ 500 million for the harm inflicted on his reputation.
The suit filed by Nedu’s attorneys reads:
“The rest of the video included you uttering similar false narratives and defamatory remarks that you stated in the previous video. The same was done in the other 2 videos you have posted relating to my client and this fraud issue,” the letter reads.
“Your continuous and relentless attempts to defame Nedu and Tokindrumz and tarnish their good and respected names are both unwarranted and damaging. Let it be clearly stated: Our clients did not commit fraud against MSBM.
“In view of the above stated facts with supporting documents, we have instructions to solicit for the following options: a retraction of every video involving Nedu on every one of your platforms within 24 hours of receiving this notice.
“A public apology, published on every one of your platforms within 24 hours of receiving this notice, and the sum of N500,000,000 (Five Hundred Million Naira) for damage to reputation caused.
“Take notice, where you render settlement inevitable, we have further instructions to seek the following reliefs by filing an action against you.
“While you are free to exercise your constitutionally guaranteed fundamental right to expression, said right should be used justly and carefully. You are only allowed to disseminate credible and factual information and not baseless accusations made to damage the reputation of any citizen. We hope that you address the issues raised.”
