Nollywood filmmaker Omoni Oboli has broken her silence following the unexpected takedown of her latest hit movie, Love in Every Word, from YouTube due to a copyright claim. The film, which had quickly become the No. 1 trending movie in Nigeria, was removed after amassing over six million views within just 72 hours of its release.
Love in Every Word, produced by Omoni Oboli and written by Mfon-Abasi Micheal Inyang, is a romantic drama that delves into love, emotional resilience, and the power of communication in relationships. Starring Bam Bam and Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe, the film was released on March 7, 2025, and garnered massive attention, crossing two million views within its first 24 hours on YouTube.
However, just as it was gaining momentum, the movie was taken down from the platform due to a copyright infringement claim by Canadian-based network engineer Chinonso Obiora, also known as Skyberry. Obiora alleged that the storyline bore striking similarities to his own work, prompting YouTube to remove the film pending further investigation.
The removal of Love in Every Word sparked an uproar on social media, with fans questioning the legitimacy of the copyright claim. Many expressed frustration, with some accusing Obiora of attempting to sabotage Oboli’s success.
Amid the backlash, Omoni Oboli finally addressed the issue, assuring fans that steps were being taken to resolve the situation. Taking to her social media pages, she expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and reassured viewers that the film would return soon.
“Hey, besties! Thank you for the love and concern. We deeply appreciate your calls, messages, posts, tweets, and comments. I’m sorry I couldn’t respond at the time, but we’re working on it. Love in Every Word will be back!”
Her response was met with relief and encouragement from fans who urged her to take legal action if necessary.
