Rice doubled the lead in the 70th minute with yet another stunning free kick. Madrid had no time to react as Mikel Merino made it three five minutes later, leaving the defending champions completely red faced.
Madrid are now at the verge of elimination and will be hoping to turn things around when they play host to Arsenal on the 16th, while Arsenal will be looking to go through with what they’ve put in motion and book a semifinals spot for the first time since 2008-09.
