For the first time since their much-publicized fallout, Afrobeats superstar Davido has opened up about his relationship with Tiwa Savage, making it clear that despite the drama, she remains “his sister for life.”
In a candid interview on The Breakfast Club, the singer addressed the tension that followed after he reportedly sent Tiwa threatening messages over her association with his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu.

Late last year, the internet went wild after reports claimed that Davido warned Tiwa Savage to “be careful in Lagos” following a hangout she had with Sophia. The incident sparked reactions from fans and fellow celebrities alike. Tiwa, feeling threatened, allegedly reported the matter to the Commissioner of Police. Her ex-husband, Teebillz, even jumped into the drama, vowing to confront Davido for disrespecting his family.
The situation escalated quickly and created visible tension between two of Nigeria’s biggest music exports.
Now, Davido has cleared the air, confirming that while they may have clashed, his bond with Tiwa is deeper than the noise online.
“We used to stay in the same house. The situation with Tiwa was personal. She was a good friend to Sophia Momodu. Tiwa Savage is my sister for life. She changed the game for females. I love her and her child, we are family. Our fight is just like a brother and sister’s fight,” he explained.
According to Davido, Tiwa reached out to him after the incident, and although they haven’t seen each other in person since, there’s no bad blood on his part.

“I will never allow anything to happen to her,” he added, showing clear affection and respect for her despite their disagreement.
Davido also touched on the heavy criticism he has endured throughout his career, especially being the son of a billionaire.
“I think in the history of Nigeria, I’m the most bashed and disrespected artiste. In Nigeria, if you’re the son of a successful man, you gonna get it,” he said, reflecting on the constant scrutiny he faces in the spotlight.
