Snoop Dogg is going back to church again!
The hip-hop legend has announced the release of his second gospel album titled “Altar Call,” dropping on April 27, 2025. The 21-track project is much more than just a musical offering; it’s a personal tribute to his late mother, Beverly Tate, who passed away in 2021. In fact, the release date was intentionally chosen to fall on what would have been her 74th birthday. Her photo proudly graces the album cover.

In a video posted to Instagram, Snoop shared, “April 27, I’m dropping a gospel album on Death Row Records. It’s called Altar Call. You heard it first. A gospel album, April 27. God is good. Won’t he do it?”
Snoop is releasing the gospel album under Death Row Records, the same label once known for some of the hardest West Coast rap classics of the ’90s. But this time around, it’s about faith, healing, and spreading love.
“Altar Call” features a soulful lineup of guest artists including Jamie Foxx, Robert Glasper, Denaun Porter, Jazze Pha, Charlie Bereal, Jane Handcock, October London, and the Death Row Mass Choir. The lead single, a moving cover of John P. Kee’s “Mother I Miss You,” is set to drop on April 18.
This isn’t his first time stepping into the church pew. In 2018, he released Bible of Love, a 32-track gospel album that left many stunned, but also impressed. That project topped gospel charts and showed a more spiritual side of the Doggfather.
With Altar Call, Snoop is going even deeper. He describes the album as a reflection of his mother’s lessons about love, faith, and staying grounded.
“This album is a reflection of what she taught me, to use my voice and my platform to spread love and heal the world,” he said.
While many know Snoop for his laid-back, weed-loving persona and iconic rap flow, he’s always sprinkled his faith into his music. In his own words:
“This is not a money-driven project, it’s a spirit-driven project. I’ve referred to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on most of my recordings, letting people know that I am a born-again Christian.”
