In a recent revelation that has taken Nigerian music lovers by surprise, Peter Okoye, widely known as Mr P, has pointed fingers at fans for the infamous breakup of Psquare – one of Nigeria’s most successful music duos.
Speaking at AY Comedian’s show, Peter didn’t mince words when he attributed their split to constant comparisons between him and his twin brother Paul (Rudeboy), which he claims fueled tension and ego issues within the group.

“Fans are the reasons Psquare no dey together today. Two brothers dey do one thing, ona dey talk say one better pass one, e con enter one head, he begin misbehave. If ona like make ona dey go house, I no send una,” Peter stated passionately during his speech.
For those who may not remember, Psquare was formed in 1997 and quickly rose to dominate the Nigerian music scene with chart-topping hits like “E No Easy,” “Bizzy Body,” and “Personally.” The duo was not just known for their music but also for their electrifying dance moves that captivated audiences during performances.
The Okoye twins started their journey together and became household names across Africa with their unique blend of R&B, hip-hop and traditional African sounds. Their synchronized dance moves and harmonious vocals made them stand out in the industry.
However, what many fans didn’t realize was that behind the scenes, the constant comparison between the brothers was creating a rift. While Peter was often praised for his exceptional dancing skills, Paul was lauded for his vocal abilities. These comparisons apparently created a competitive atmosphere between the twins rather than a collaborative one.
The brothers’ relationship became further strained when Peter became a witness against their elder brother, Jude Okoye, in an alleged N1.38 billion fraud case, highlighting the deep family feud that had developed.
Peter’s recent comments have sparked mixed reactions from fans and followers. While some sympathize with his perspective, others believe the brothers should take responsibility for their actions.
Instagram user ada_bekee06 commented: “If fans can separate 2 brothers then something is wrong with the 2 brothers. Which kind talk be that?”
Another user, araoluwa wrote: “Nah Peter don’t do that, you guys should be accountable for whatever action you both took and whatever decision you both made.”
Some fans also pointed out the clear differences between the brothers, with it_jbe noting: “There’s no point trying to prove anything—no one ever said Peter can’t sing. But when it comes to vocal strength and delivery, Paul clearly stands out. As solo artists, it’s easy to tell that Paul is the stronger singer.”
esther.posh commented: “Omo I was at the show yesterday we have to beg him to leave the stage let love lead.”

Despite the split, both Peter and Paul have continued their musical careers separately, each building their individual brands. While fans continue to hope for a reunion, the recent statements from Peter suggest that the wounds may still be fresh.
