Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has finally addressed the growing concerns surrounding her health, following speculations that she might be battling cancer due to her recent drastic weight loss.
The mother of four sparked mixed reactions online after sharing a video in which she appeared visibly slimmer while promoting products on social media. Her noticeably different appearance led fans and followers to express worry, with many recalling an older video where she once mentioned a health scare.
The situation gained more traction after a 2023 video resurfaced, showing the actress responding to similar rumours. In the clip, Mercy Johnson clarified that her statements had been misunderstood and that she never said she had cancer, only a cancer scare that turned out to be unrelated.
Speaking in the video, she said:
“Hi guys, okay so first and foremost, thank you so much for all of you who have been calling and sending messages and prayers, thank you, I do appreciate it so much. But, I do not have cancer.
I noticed that a clip from my TV show, Mercy’s Menu, has been flying around and I think they cut the clip. I said I had a cancer scare, it means that I had this swelling on my neck and my doctors felt it was something serious. I had problems with my thyroid, I am perfectly okay.
Thank you so much for all of your calls and your messages, the phone has been buzzing like crazy. I am perfectly fine and I do not have cancer in Jesus’ name. Thank you guys so much.”
