Falz Denies Relationship With Bobrisky

Nigerian rapper and actor Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has set the record straight on multiple controversies, including his alleged relationship with crossdresser Bobrisky, and his recent viral comments on fornication.

Speaking in a new interview with Arise TV, the entertainer addressed swirling rumors linking him to Bobrisky, sparked by a leaked phone call posted online by social critic VeryDarkMan (VDM). The leaked audio, which emerged while Bobrisky was in prison, fueled widespread speculation and backlash, especially on social media.

Falz, who has since filed a defamation suit against VDM alongside his father, Femi Falana (SAN), clarified that there was never any personal or intimate relationship between him and Bobrisky.

He said:

“Update on the court case, very much still in court. There’s a substantive suit which myself and my dad are alleging defamation. We filed the case and ever since we filed the case, they have never entered the defense. Instead, they entered a preliminary objection saying the court doesn’t have jurisdiction to hear the case or something.

“As at the last date, I was in court. The court has thrown out that preliminary objection. Now they have to enter a defense or the court will just go on to rule on the case. So that’s the update. I can’t really say much about the subject of current litigation, so I will leave it there.

“I never had any relationship with Bobrisky prior to that phone call. He messaged me on Instagram and said, ‘I’m in this case and I want to speak to you about how you can help.’ And you know, thousands of people messaged me about similar stuff like that. This is not a special case; it’s not exceptional in any way.

“In a lot of those cases, I will give them an audience, like what is the P, how can I help? Compassionately. Little did I know. Anyways, as they say, once bitten, twice shy. At the end of the day, I’m not going to, maybe I’m not going to help anyone again in my life, but maybe I will be much more conscious.”

The rapper also doubled down on another headline-making moment: his declaration that “fornication isn’t a sin.” The statement had ignited controversy across religious communities in Nigeria, especially among Christians and Muslims.

But Falz insists the comment was misunderstood.

“I wasn’t speaking from a Christian or Islamic perspective,” he clarified.
“I practice the ‘religion of love.’ Under that religion, I don’t think fornication is a sin. These are two unmarried people. Willingly. Consensually. Personally, I don’t think there’s a problem there.”

Perhaps most shocking was his open admission:

“I’m no longer a Christian. I practice religion of love.”

His remarks have added fresh fuel to an already tense atmosphere between public figures and moral expectations in Nigeria’s largely conservative society.

Despite criticism, Falz appears unfazed, stating that while he may be more cautious about helping people going forward, he won’t be silenced by smear campaigns or societal pressures.
