Popular Nigerian singer Mr Real has publicly accused his colleague D’banj of “ripping him off” for years, specifically relating to their 2018 collaborative song, “Issa Banger” (which also featured Slimcase).
Mr Real’s accusation, which he made on his social media in December 2023, is centered on two key issues:
- Unpaid Royalties: Mr Real claims he has not received his 30% share of the revenue generated from the Caller Ring Back Tone (CRBT) product of the song “Issa Banger.”
- Unfulfilled Promises: He alleges that D’banj used him as a brand ambassador for the CREAM platform (D’banj’s company) for “zero naira” and failed to deliver on a promise of an SUV as part of the endorsement.
Mr Real stated that the unfulfilled promises and unpaid money have negatively impacted his life, even causing some of his friends to think he was “stingy.”
As of the current reports, D’banj has not issued a public statement directly addressing these specific claims by Mr Real.
