Osun State Government has officially appointed global Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, as the Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund.
According to the government, this strategic move aims to mobilize resources and partnerships to revolutionize the state’s sports sector and nurture young talents across various disciplines.
Confirming the appointment, the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Kola Adewusi, who also serves as the Commissioner for Sports, said Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration is committed to building a modern sports ecosystem that will position Osun as a hub for both national and international competitions.
He stated:
“The ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium are being carried out to meet Olympic standards. The project will be completed soon, and it will serve as a world-class sports arena.”
Adewusi further revealed that the government is in the advanced stages of establishing the Osun State Sports Commission, a central body for sports administration and policy implementation. He added that the Sports Trust Fund, chaired by Davido, will attract investments from sports philanthropists both within and outside the state.
“Davido has been appointed to chair the Sports Trust Fund, and he did not hesitate to accept the appointment. His influence and connections will attract significant funds that will impact Osun sports positively,” Adewusi said.
Davido’s appointment marks another major milestone in his contributions to his home state, following his previous philanthropic efforts and global achievements in entertainment.
