Pastor Chris Okafor, the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, failed to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, on Monday. The invitation follows serious allegations of multiple rape and conduct likely to breach public peace.
Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh ordered a thorough investigation after several complaints were filed against the cleric. Despite being directed to report to the Deputy Commissioner of Police by 10:00 a.m., Okafor was a no-show.Sources at the SCID confirmed that while the legal team waited, the pastor did not arrive. Reports suggest that Okafor sent emissaries to the command to request more time, promising he would eventually appear for questioning.
The controversy gained momentum in mid-December 2025 following viral social media claims. Notable points include:
- Sexual Misconduct: Multiple victims have come forward alleging sexual offences.
- Doris Ogala’s Claims: Nollywood actress Doris Ogala alleged a long-term relationship with Okafor since 2017, accusing him of broken promises and sharing explicit content.
- Public Apology: On New Year’s Day, Okafor reportedly apologized to his congregation for “past mistakes” and knelt at the pulpit to seek forgiveness.
As of Monday evening, neither the pastor nor the alleged victims had reported to the SCID for formal statements. The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, emphasized that the command is committed to a confidential and protected investigation for all witnesses.
Church & PFN Reaction:
- The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) is reportedly considering disciplinary action.
- Pastor Okafor has reportedly stepped aside from his pastoral duties while investigations continue.
