Afrobeats singer Portable (Habeeb Okikiola) is currently at the center of a human rights storm. While the “Zazu” star remains in custody following domestic violence allegations, a leaked video showing him being allegedly assaulted by officers has triggered an official probe by the Ogun State Police Command.
Portable was taken into custody following a petition by his baby mama, Ashabi Simple. She alleges the singer physically assaulted her, seized her phones, and threatened her family with an axe during a dispute at his bar on January 1, 2026.
Video footage surfaced on January 11 showing a shirtless, handcuffed Portable tearfully pleading while being struck by an official in a police facility. DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Command, confirmed an internal investigation is underway. He stated: “No matter who the suspect is, nobody should be treated in such a manner.”
ortable remains in detention as police finalize the case regarding the domestic assault charges. However, the officers involved in the viral video now face disciplinary action for violating standard detainee protocols and “videoing suspects,” which the Command strictly forbids.
