“APC National Convention 2026: Governor Hope Uzodimma to Lead 73-Member Planning Committee”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially shifted into high gear for its upcoming National Convention, scheduled for March 27–28, 2026. In a strategic move on Monday, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) inaugurated a high-powered 73-member Central Coordination Committee to oversee the preparations. The committee is chaired by the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, a choice seen by many as a signal of his expanding influence within the party’s internal structure.

Supporting Uzodimma in this critical task are Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who serves as Vice Chairman, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, appointed as Secretary. The committee is a “who’s who” of APC power players, including a vast array of serving governors such as Babagana Zulum (Borno), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), and even recent defectors like Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano and Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba, who joined the ruling party just days ago.

This convention is widely regarded as the most significant event on the APC calendar before the 2027 general elections. Beyond logistics, the 73-member team is tasked with ensuring a smooth transition as the party seeks to elect new members of the National Working Committee and unify its various factions following nationwide congresses. As the ruling party aims to solidify its grip on the political landscape, all eyes are on Uzodimma to deliver a “frictionless” convention that sets the stage for the next election cycle.
