Ijoba Lande Police Assault: UK-Based Comedian Allegedly Beaten in Lagos

Just six days after returning from the United Kingdom, popular skit maker and Nollywood actor Ganiyu Kehinde Morufu, better known as Ijoba Lande, has shared a harrowing ordeal involving the Nigeria Police. In a distressing video posted on Friday, February 6, 2026, a visibly manhandled and bleeding Lande alleged that officers attached to the Area J Police Station in Lagos brutally assaulted him.

The comedian claimed that during the encounter, the officers forcibly took his iPhone 16 Pro Max and $1,200 belonging to his brother. “I nearly lost my life,” he captioned the post, pointing to facial injuries while emotional bystanders urged him to remain calm.

The video quickly sparked outrage online, prompting a swift response from the authorities. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the officers involved have already been identified and brought to the Command for questioning. As of Friday evening, statements are being taken from both the officers and the actor to determine the full scope of the incident. This latest allegation adds fuel to the ongoing national conversation regarding police accountability and the safety of Nigerians returning from the diaspora.
