The excitement is building as the organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) have officially confirmed that the nominee list for the 2026 edition will be unveiled this coming Sunday, March 29.
The announcement, which will be broadcast live at 7:00 PM WAT on all Africa Magic channels, is set to be hosted by the incredibly talented Nollywood actor Chimezie Imo. Known for his own historic win as the AMVCA Trailblazer Award recipient in 2024, Chimezie Imo is poised to bring a fresh and engaging energy to this year’s reveal programme.
This 12th edition of the awards promises to be a landmark event, featuring 32 distinct categories that include 18 jury-decided awards, 11 audience-voted categories, and prestigious special recognitions like the Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer awards. In a significant move toward greater continental inclusion, the organisers have also expanded the scope of the awards to celebrate even more diverse voices by introducing new categories for Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa. As anticipation reaches a fever pitch, filmmakers, actors, and fans across the continent are waiting to see which of the many outstanding works released between January and December 2025 will earn the coveted nominations.
