The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has kicked off a week-long series of events to commemorate the 2026 National Police Day, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust.” While the official grand finale is slated for Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Eagle Square in Abuja, police commands nationwide began their scheduled activities today, Monday, March 30, 2026.
In Abuja and other cities, officers were indeed seen engaging in community service today, including environmental sanitation exercises at major locations like the Area One Motor Park and surrounding areas. These initiatives, directed by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, are designed to foster closer ties between law enforcement and the public, improve transparency, and build sustainable trust.
The week’s scheduled activities include:
- March 30: Environmental sanitation exercises and medical outreaches.
- March 31: A national walkathon held across various state capitals.
- April 1: Public sensitization campaigns focusing on electoral violence prevention and road safety.
- April 2: Presentation of welfare cheques to the families of fallen police personnel.
- April 7: The grand finale featuring a ceremonial parade and tactical displays at Eagle Square, Abuja.
This community-centered approach is intended to demonstrate the Force’s commitment to people-oriented policing and to show that officers are an integral part of the communities they serve.
