In the emotional interview, the “Melo” singer—who was famously the first female artist signed to the 30BG-affiliated label in 2020—admitted that her time at DMW eventually took a severe toll on her well-being. She described the period leading up to her exit as “depressing,” “sad,” and “exhausting,” citing a critical lack of professional direction and support as the primary reason she chose to walk away.
Liya also addressed the harsh public perception she faced while signed, noting that many fans and critics labeled her as “lazy” or “unproductive.” She revealed that the pressure became so overwhelming that she stopped managing her own social media for over two years, relying entirely on her manager to post on her behalf. Despite the struggles, she expressed deep gratitude to her manager for his patience and maintained that while she needed to leave for her own “personal and professional growth,” she remains “#30BG for life.”
