The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched an extensive voter enlightenment campaign in Kano State to boost civic participation ahead of upcoming electoral activities.
According to a report by Radio Nigeria, the initiative is designed to address voter apathy and ensure that citizens are well-informed about the electoral process, including voter registration, the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and new voting technologies.
Speaking at the launch, INEC officials emphasized that Kano, being a high-population center, is critical to the democratic process. The campaign will utilize a grassroots approach, including community town halls, radio jingles in local languages, and engagement with traditional and religious leaders to reach rural and urban populations alike.
The commission also highlighted its commitment to transparency and inclusivity, urging women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) to take an active role in shaping the leadership of the state and the country.
