President Tinubu in Plateau Today to Commiserate with Victims of Palm Sunday Massacre

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to visit Plateau State today, Thursday, April 2, 2024, amid heightened security measures following the tragic Palm Sunday massacre in Jos.

According to a report by Business Day, the President’s visit is aimed at commiserating with the government and people of the state over the coordinated attacks in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North, which resulted in the loss of at least 27 lives. Security forces, including the military and police, have been heavily deployed across the state capital and its environs to ensure a hitch-free visit.

During his stay, President Tinubu is expected to meet with Governor Caleb Mutfwang, traditional rulers, and religious leaders to discuss long-term solutions to the recurring security challenges in the region. He is also slated to visit the survivors of the attack currently receiving treatment in various hospitals.

The presidency has reiterated its commitment to bringing the perpetrators of the violence to justice, describing the incident as a “dastardly act” that will not go unpunished
