President to Commission 6 Iconic Projects This Wednesday

President Bola Tinubu is set to embark on a two-day working visit to Lagos this Wednesday, April 8, and Thursday, April 9, 2026. During the visit, he will officially commission six landmark infrastructure projects executed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed the visit during a press conference on Monday, noting that these projects represent strategic investments in transportation, education, agriculture, and digital governance.

The “Big Six” Projects

The President’s itinerary includes the inauguration of several “legacy” projects:

  1. Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge: A 3.89km strategic infrastructure designed to drastically reduce traffic congestion in the Ikeja axis, linking Opebi and Mende directly to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
  2. Lagos State Geographic Information Service (GIS) Building: A newly digitized land administration hub in Alausa aimed at modernizing property registration and management.
  3. Lagos Multi-Agency Building: A massive administrative complex in Alausa named after President Tinubu, designed to house multiple government parastatals under one roof for better coordination.
  4. Tolu Schools Complex (Ajegunle): Described as the “largest school community in Africa,” this redeveloped site hosts 36 schools (primary and secondary) serving over 20,000 students with modern laboratories and ICT facilities.
  5. Mid-Level Agro-Produce Hub (Abijo): Located in Ibeju-Lekki, this facility is designed to enhance food logistics and storage along the Lekki-Epe corridor.
  6. Maracana Stadium (Ajegunle): A grassroots sports development center featuring 19 mini-football pitches.

Traffic & Logistics Advisory

To ensure a hitch-free visit, the Lagos State Government has announced the following:

  • LASTMA Deployment: 500 additional officers will be deployed to major routes and project corridors to manage vehicular movement.
  • Security Measures: There will be a heavy presence of security personnel across Ikeja, Ajegunle, and Ibeju-Lekki.
  • Travel Delays: Residents and commuters are advised to expect temporary diversions, particularly around the Opebi, Maryland, and Alausa areas on Wednesday, and the Ajegunle/Apapa axis on Thursday.
