Nigerian-born designer Esther Adeosun, founder and creative director of Fifi Stitches, is making waves across London after a successful showcase at the Nexus Mehfil – Eid Special Fashion Showcase 2026 in Mayfair.
The event, which was held recently in April, saw Adeosun join a curated selection of global designers celebrating modest fashion and contemporary elegance. Her collection has been widely praised for its “quiet confidence,” bridging Nigerian craftsmanship with a modern, global aesthetic.
The London Showcase
The Mayfair exhibition, organized by Centurion Staunch Runways, highlighted Adeosun’s ability to translate traditional African textures into international luxury:
- The Collection: The pieces featured flowing silhouettes, sculpted bodices, and refined tailoring. Critics noted that the designs maintained a strong Nigerian identity while resonating with a diverse, high-fashion London audience.
- Cultural Fusion: Adeosun is known for her contemporary reinterpretation of Ankara, Aso Oke, and Adire textiles. Her “Modern Man” and womenswear collections focus on making these traditional fabrics wearable in both corporate and high-society settings globally.
- Technical Mastery: Trained at Obafemi Awolowo University and further refined by technical training with Fashion-Enter Ltd in the UK, Adeosun emphasizes that “precision builds trust,” focusing on architectural tailoring and corsetry construction.
A Cross-Continental Brand
Fifi Stitches operates between Lagos and London, a duality Adeosun calls her brand’s greatest strength:
- Lagos Roots: The city provides the cultural richness and expressive textile traditions, with many garments still produced in Lagos to support local artisans.
- London Influence: The UK provides the structured production systems and the institutional framework for global luxury distribution.
- Previous Milestones: This latest showcase builds on her previous appearances at the Suffolk Fashion Show and the FB Fashion Ball in Liverpool, as well as a 2025 nomination for “Bespoke / Custom Tailor of the Year” at the African Fashion Awards.
