Türkiye to Establish Advanced Military Training Facility in Nigeria

Türkiye and Nigeria have reached a landmark agreement to establish a modern military training facility in Nigeria, aimed at bolstering the country’s counter-terrorism efforts and regional security. This strategic partnership follows high-level defense negotiations between both nations, focusing on technology transfer and advanced combat training for the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The facility is expected to serve as a hub for training Nigerian personnel in the operation of Turkish-made defense hardware, including drones and armored vehicles, which have become integral to Nigeria’s security architecture. Beyond physical training, the agreement includes provisions for intelligence sharing and technical support, marking a significant deepening of the bilateral ties between Abuja and Ankara. Defense analysts suggest that this collaboration will not only enhance Nigeria’s operational capabilities against insurgency but also reduce its reliance on Western-made military training and logistics.
