The world’s biggest celebration of Afrobeats, Amapiano, and R&B is heading back to the coast of Portimão. Organizers have confirmed that Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake will headline Afro Nation Portugal 2026, scheduled for July 3 to July 5.
The 2026 edition, held at the iconic Praia da Rocha Beach, is set to be a milestone year for the festival, featuring a blend of global icons, rising stars, and the debut of a brand-new stage.
The Daily Headliners
The festival has structured its three-day takeover with a heavy focus on the biggest names in the genre:
- Friday, July 3 (Opening Night): The “African Giant” Burna Boy will kick off the festivities. He will be joined by South African sensation Tyla, marking her highly anticipated Afro Nation debut.
- Saturday, July 4: Asake takes the main stage for what is expected to be an high-energy set, building on his reputation as one of Afrobeats’ most electrifying live performers.
- Sunday, July 5 (Closing Night): Wizkid is slated to close the festival. This is being billed as one of the “Starboy’s” first major festival appearances in years, making it the most anticipated finale in the event’s history.
Expanded Lineup & New Stages
Beyond the headliners, the 2026 roster is packed with international and local heavyweights:
- Special Guests: American R&B star Kehlani and rapper Gunna have been confirmed to bring a cross-genre flair to the beach.
- Naija Representation: The “LIT Stage” will also feature Olamide, Wande Coal, Young Jonn, Darkoo, and Mavo.
- The Piano People Stage: A dedicated home for Amapiano, headlined by Madumane (DJ Maphorisa) and Focalistic, alongside Uncle Waffles, Kelvin Momo, and MaWhoo.
- The Afrotronic Stage (New for 2026): For the first time, the festival will introduce a third stage dedicated entirely to African electronic sounds, including Afro House, Afro Tech, and Gqom.
