IG Olatunji Disu Receives Tactical Gear from U.S. Group

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, officially received a consignment of police protective gear on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, donated by a United States-based organization.

The donation was provided by Signal 63 Ministries through the Fundamental Baptist Ministry International. The handover took place at the Force Headquarters in Abuja and was facilitated by Mr. Bill Graham of Signal 63 Ministries, alongside Rev. and Mrs. Philemon Sidi.

Enhancing Officer Safety

The gear is intended to bolster the operational capacity and personal safety of frontline personnel:

  • Critical Intervention: IGP Disu described the donation as a “critical intervention” aimed at improving the safety and operational confidence of officers in the field.
  • Welfare Priority: During the handover, the IG reaffirmed that the well-being of police personnel is “non-negotiable” and remains a cornerstone of his administration’s drive to build a more professional force.
  • Modern Equipment: The consignment includes modern protective equipment designed to protect officers during high-risk tactical operations and daily patrols.

Building International Partnerships

The donation highlights a growing trend of international collaboration for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in 2026:

  • Strategic Support: This follows earlier 2026 engagements with the U.S. Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), which recently reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the NPF with training and modern operational tools.
  • Community and Faith-Based Ties: The involvement of Signal 63 Ministries and the Fundamental Baptist Ministry demonstrates the diverse range of international groups currently investing in the reform and equipment of the Nigerian police.
