The Nigerian film industry is mourning the loss of veteran Nollywood actor and producer Solomon Akiyesi, who reportedly passed away in his sleep on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Abuja.
The sad news was confirmed by the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Abubakar Yakubu, who stated that Akiyesi “slept and did not wake up.” His remains have since been deposited at a mortuary in Abuja while the family prepares to release further details.
Born in Ososo, Edo State, Solomon Akiyesi built a respected career as an actor, producer, and director. He featured in numerous Nollywood productions, including films such as Deadly Affair, Heart of a Saint, and Gen Z Wife. He was also known for his service to the industry, having served on the board of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues, friends, and fans, many remembering him for his talent, warmth, and contributions to Nollywood over the years. His passing marks another painful loss for the entertainment industry.
