The “Rockstar” of Afropop, Adekunle Gold (AG Baby), has officially raised the bar for the summer of 2026. On Friday, May 8, 2026, the singer released the highly anticipated deluxe version of his chart-topping album, titled Fuji Xtra.
The project is a sonic homage to his roots, blending modern pop sensibilities with the raw, high-energy percussion of traditional Fuji music. The standout moment of the deluxe release is the blockbuster collaboration with YBNL boss Olamide on the lead single, “Street Anthem.”
Inside the ‘Fuji Xtra’ Deluxe
Adekunle Gold has described this project as a “full-circle moment,” returning to the sounds that dominated the Lagos streets of his youth.
- The Olamide Collaboration: “Street Anthem” marks a rare and powerful reunion between the two former label mates. The track features Olamide’s signature gritty rap flow layered over AG Baby’s smooth, Fuji-inspired melodies.
- New Additions: Beyond the Olamide feature, the deluxe includes four brand-new tracks that weren’t on the original 2025 release:
- “Originality”
- “Lagos Night”
- “Irawo” (featuring a surprise appearance by a legendary Fuji veteran)
- “Street Anthem” (feat. Olamide)
- Production: The album features heavy production work from Kel-P and Blaisebeatz, ensuring that while the soul is traditional, the sound remains “global-ready” for international dance floors.
AG Baby’s Evolution
Since his Tequila Ever After era, Adekunle Gold has consistently pushed the boundaries of his “Afro-Pop Vol. 1” persona. With Fuji Xtra, critics are already noting his ability to balance high-fashion aesthetics with deep-rooted cultural sounds.
“Fuji is the pulse of the street. I wanted to take that pulse and give it a tuxedo,” Adekunle Gold shared during a listening session at the Heineken House in Lagos last night.
