Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has extended words of comfort to popular celebrity businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, following the fallout from the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election in Imo State.
Cubana Chief Priest had expressed interest in running for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections. Following reports and online rumors suggesting the socialite suffered a defeat by securing only 14 votes against the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Canice Nwachukwu, Seyi Tinubu took to his Instagram story to share a strong message of solidarity, writing:
“Bro, sometimes by losing a battle, you find a new way to win the war. Keep your head up @cubana_chiefpriest. We know what you are capable of achieving.”
Reacting to the swirling reports, Cubana Chief Priest issued a comprehensive clarification on his social media pages to clear the air. While initial videos showed him expressing disappointment over trusting local elders, the socialite officially clarified that he ultimately withdrew from the race and did not physically participate in the primary election held on Saturday.
He explained that his decision to step down followed high-level consultations with the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, and other key stakeholders, who outlined the party’s zoning policy. The structure mandates that Orlu Local Government Area should complete at least two consecutive terms before the legislative seat rotates to another area. As a committed party loyalist and the Imo State Coordinator for the “City Boys Movement,” Cubana Chief Priest affirmed that his loyalty to the APC and his absolute backing for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid remain unwavering despite stepping aside.
