Fast-rising Nigerian singer, songwriter, and music producer Emoseh Khamofu, known globally as Bloody Civilian, has opened up about her personal life, revealing that marriage is fundamentally not part of her current or future plans.
Speaking during a recent episode of the Not Just Ok podcast, the 26-year-old hitmaker explained that her journey as a creative professional has radically reshaped her worldview, distancing her from the conventional timelines and values she grew up around.
The Taraba-born artist noted that her family continues to place heavy pressure on her regarding settling down, operating on traditional expectations typically held for young women from Northern Nigeria. However, the singer made it clear that she simply does not share those same desires.
“One thing my family still does not understand about being an artiste is the fact that certain conventional things that they expect of a woman from the North are just simply not things that I am excited to do. For instance, marriage is not something that I am thinking of at all. But that question keeps being brought up.”
Bloody Civilian, who has built a strong reputation for her fierce independence and genre-blending sound, emphasized that her complete focus remains entirely on expanding her musical career and pushing boundaries as a producer. She expressed frustration that family members frequently bring up the topic of marriage without trying to understand that her creative path requires a completely different lifestyle, one that prioritizes self-actualization over societal or marital conformity.
