Nigerian gospel musician Kunle Kenny has stirred positive conversations across social media after publicly declaring his intention to undergo a vasectomy as a permanent family planning method rather than having his wife rely on chemical contraceptives.
The singer made his perspective known via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, explaining that his decision is rooted in a desire to protect his wife’s body from the aggressive health and emotional side effects heavily associated with birth control pills, hormonal injections, and implants.
Kenny emphasized that the decision of when to bring children into the world must always stem from a mutual, unanimous agreement between a husband and a wife. However, once they hit their desired family size, he believes the responsibility of halting reproduction should shift to the man to prevent subjecting the woman to harmful synthetic alterations.
“Nobody is putting any birth control thing inside my wife’s body. No extraneous chemicals or pills. We will only have kids when we BOTH unanimously agree, as God allows in His mercy. And when we’re done, I’m getting a vasectomy. A woman’s body is too sensitive for these chemicals. The side effects are crazy!”
The gospel minister’s candid stance has drawn widespread applause online, notably breaking cultural taboos in a society where conversations around vasectomies are often met with reservation. Several male followers reacted with support, praising his protective approach toward his wife’s long-term health and expressing an open willingness to consider similar permanent options for their own families when the time comes.
