Capacity Building: NFF Kicks Off Six-Day CAF B-License Refresher Course in Abuja

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has finalized all arrangements for a highly critical, six-day CAF B-License refresher course tailored for domestic football coaches. The training program officially kicked off on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the NFF/FIFA Goal Project facility located inside the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

NFF Technical Director, Coach Augustine Eguavoen, clarified that the refresher routine is an absolute necessity for tacticians across elite tiers like the NPFL, NNL, NWFL, NLO, and national team setups. Many active coaches holding a CAF B-License require formal renewal and technical evaluation before they are permitted to upgrade to the prestigious CAF A-License level.

Managed Batches for Effective Learning

To optimize classroom engagement and field practice, the NFF divided the 50 selected participant coaches into two equal, streamlined groups:

Training PhaseDates (2026)Participant CountFocus Area
Batch AJune 21 – June 2325 CoachesModern Methodologies & Game Analysis
Batch BJune 23 – June 2525 CoachesComputer Literacy & Technical Presentation

Following the conclusion of this refresher timeline, the technical department will rigorously filter down the pool to determine exactly 25 eligible candidates who will advance to the expansive, seven-month CAF A-License course starting in August 2026. This structural push comes as a massive boost after Nigeria was recently readmitted into the CAF A-License coaching convention following a frustrating nine-year absence.

Trusting Local Coach Educators

Addressing the media regarding the absence of external international resource persons, Eguavoen proudly pointed out that Nigeria currently boasts a wealth of indigenous, elite-certified technical brains fully capable of spearheading continental programs.

The extensive, modern coaching modules will be spearheaded by Dr. Terry Eguaoje (NFF Head of Coaching Education), with collaborative technical guidance from a certified localized panel:

  • Coach Augustine Eguavoen (NFF Technical Director & AFCON Legend)
  • Dr. Mohammed Sanusi (NFF General Secretary)
  • Monday Odigie (Veteran Domestic League Tactician)
  • Edema Fuludu (Ex-International and Coach Educator)
