The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a traditional masquerade follower and his accomplices in connection with the horrific murder of a 24-year-old man, identified as Olalekan, during a festival in the Ibadan metropolis. The tragic incident occurred in the volatile Oke-Ado area when a routine cultural procession turned violently chaotic as a group of masquerade worshipers clashed with local youths. Eyewitnesses revealed that the suspects, armed with dangerous local weapons, attacked the victim over a minor confrontation, inflicting deep machete wounds that led to his untimely death before emergency medical help arrived. The state police public relations officer confirmed that tactical operatives were swiftly deployed to the scene to restore public order and prevent a retaliatory community breakdown. Authorities successfully apprehended the prime suspect and recovered several incriminating items, including traditional regalia and weapons used in the assault.
