Governor Dauda Lawal has officially commissioned a historic $200 million lithium mining and processing plant in Boko Village, located within the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Unveiled as a major catalyst for regional economic rebirth, the multi-million-dollar facility represents a strategic joint venture between Zam Mining Company Limited, Bima Mines Limited, Jinlide Mining Company Limited, and several other key development partners. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Governor Lawal declared that this mega-project signals a transformative departure from unregulated, informal mining toward a highly organized, transparent, and value-driven solid minerals industry. The governor emphasized that given the soaring global demand for critical minerals to power electric vehicles, renewable energy installations, and modern technology, Zamfara State will no longer remain a mere exporter of cheap raw minerals. Instead, the administration is heavily prioritizing local processing, industrialization, and value addition to ensure natural resources actively improve the livelihoods of citizens. The newly established plant is projected to create at least 2,000 direct and indirect jobs, with hiring preference strictly mandated for qualified residents of the host communities. Furthermore, the state government has directed the factory operators to maintain absolute environmental compliance, execute robust corporate social responsibility initiatives, and facilitate seamless skills transfer. By collaborating closely with the federal government to establish a safe, highly regulated investment climate, Zamfara is positioning itself as a secure hub for legitimate global business, shared prosperity, and long-term economic diversification.
