Atiku Media Office Accuses INEC of Supporting Tinubu’s Agenda to Disenfranchise ADC

The media office of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is assisting efforts to undermine the democratic rights of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), claiming that the electoral body is acting in ways that could disenfranchise members and supporters of the party. In a statement, the media office accused INEC of taking actions that it believes favour the political interests of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The statement argued that every registered political party should be given equal treatment under the law and called on the electoral commission to remain impartial in carrying out its constitutional responsibilities. According to the media office, confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process depends on the independence, transparency, and credibility of electoral institutions. It urged INEC to ensure that all decisions are guided strictly by the Constitution, the Electoral Act, and established legal procedures. The statement also appealed to Nigerians, civil society organizations, and the international community to closely monitor developments as political activities ahead of future elections continue. While expressing concern over the alleged actions, the media office reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing lawful and democratic means in addressing electoral grievances. As of the time of the statement, INEC had not publicly responded to the specific allegations. Political observers noted that disagreements between political parties and electoral authorities are not uncommon during the electoral cycle, with legal and institutional channels available to resolve disputes. The latest claims have added to ongoing political discussions as parties continue preparations for upcoming elections across the country.
