Supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have dismissed recent criticism by former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso regarding the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket, insisting that the outcome of the 2023 election and the administration’s performance remain more important to Nigerians than religious considerations. The supporters argued that the decision to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket was based on political strategy and competence rather than religious affiliation, adding that the electorate had already given its verdict through the ballot box. They maintained that the current administration should be assessed by its policies, economic reforms, infrastructure development, security efforts, and commitment to national progress instead of the religious background of its leaders. According to the group, the focus should remain on governance and the delivery of democratic dividends as political discussions gradually shift toward the 2027 general elections. They also accused critics of attempting to revive issues they believe were settled during the last election cycle, urging political actors to engage in constructive debates centred on development and national unity. While acknowledging that every citizen has the right to express opinions on national issues, the supporters stressed that Nigeria’s diversity requires leaders to promote peaceful coexistence and avoid statements capable of deepening political or religious divisions. They expressed confidence that President Tinubu would continue implementing policies aimed at strengthening the economy, improving infrastructure, attracting investment, and creating employment opportunities across the country. As political activities ahead of the 2027 elections begin to gather momentum, both supporters and opponents are expected to intensify public engagement while Nigerians continue to evaluate the performance of elected leaders and the direction of national governance.
